This is where to start.
Wow talk about another favorite of mine for the moment. I really LOVE how this turned out.
This photo shows how young my parents were! lol This is of them with my brother while living in California. The angelic qualities to this photo really said it all for me.
I usually hate placing single photos within the center of my layout as it is a center composition which is unpleasing. This kind of gives a twist on your general layout. I placed my photo with photocorners to preserve the original photo, very easy step.
This turquoise blue color background really caught my eye and is very striking. I layered it with a Jenni Bowlin top note cutout to give it some emphasis. To update this fairly plain shape i took a piece of music sheet and traced it along the shape and then narrowed it so it could texture the background but only on the half without the picture. I saw this in a magazine and love how much it can change your inital shape! I also had fun playing with different font stickers which just enhances the playfulness and graphic qualities yet updating it from the vintage music sheet they lay on.
I took some Krate Paper paper from their new schoolhouse deck and of course had to include my favorite thing; ledger. This really helped with the linear elements to balance the page. Fun embellishments like a tim holtz key hole, and making memories metal pieces gave the page a completed look. I had to of course incorporate a basic grey basics piece, the beautiful kraft border sticker.
