A Fathers Passion.

The original photo was not nearly this large I believe, though I am happy to say my sister blew it up and it looks fabulous!  This is my Grandfather, a man I was never able to meet but i never stop thinking about him and his legacy.  He was a photographer for the army in the Vietnam and Korean wars. He also had his own darkroom that he built in my mothers house growing up.  How neat to have met him and learned about his photography journeys.  I think this is where my love of the arts comes from, and I am sure to have a passion for it just as my sister loves photography.

I wanted to give this layout a real antiqued feel because he is developing old photographs in the picture.  Since it is such a large picture and is heavily viewer involved i felt it ddid not need a whole lot of fluff or collaging.

I love this background paper with the distressed tim holtz feel.  Its hard to find a good black distressed paper.  Cosmo cricket's wanted 6x6 pad is really the star of this layout.  As you all may know I have been slightly obsessed with creating with this stack.  The striped bands are two pieces cut in half to create a 3 inch border, a really great way to save cutting up a 12x12.   I took a different dotted turquoise paper from the same deck and punched out 1 inch scallop circles.  I ran adhesive along the backside and placed the circles next to each other to create a scalloped border on the ends of the photo. Kristina Werner definitely influenced this one. Now the photo is almost framed vertically and horizontally.

To weight the bottom of the photo I placed a small basic grey basics border piece.

The title speaks for itself in showing that this was his passion.  The small little epoxy letters are k&company while the large chip letters that fit the same vintage element are from 7 gypsies.
