Simple Joy
This was the very first layout I created for my mothers birthday scrapbook. I had just purchased some new products and defiantly wanted to experiment with them!
Fabric and paper combination was defiantly a new mix for me.
The border and flag banner is fabric scraps from my bedroom redo. My new bedroom at home is going to be a southern vintage feel. I will definatly post pics when we get through with the redo!
Inspiration came from all of the million dear lizzy papers and numerous flag banners you always see.
The background is an old script paper with pink writing. It was too fakey white for the look I wanted to achieve so instead I inked it with tim holtz vintage photo and ended up over inking it in some places. To lay a somewhat plain surface I selected some vintage music sheet paper to lay across the somewhat over inked background. This is when I then sewed on my banner and strip of fabric with white thread.
This picture is of myself and my mother and its so great how innocent I once looked. lol. I felt like highlighting some of these colors seemed like the best bet in this situation. The awkward 90's brights was not of choice so instead I chose a sheet from the basic grey lemonade 6x6 stack. Off centering it still gives the emphasis to my photo, which is what you always want.
For embelishments I die-cutted a tim holtz alterations flower from k&company mat pad for baby girls. I assembled it with a silver heart brad from making memories and popped it up on foam dimensionals.
As for the title, I have certainly learned your layout can look entirely more polished when you use more than one type of font. The simple is chipboard from k&company, and the joy is heidi grace stickers. I felt this title was fitting for how its a quiet moment of youth for me, and how simple the time was with my mom.
Hope you enjoy,
Emily
